Macon , GA- Dr. Jacquelyn McLaughlin entered into eternal rest on Saturday March 21, 2015. Born on August 12, 1943 in Camden,New Jersey, the oldest of six children, to Arlington Sr. and Allene Reynolds.
She spent her formative years with her grandparents, Rev. E. E. Edmond (organizing pastor of Beulahland Bible Church) and Rosa Edmond. She attended grade and junior high school in Bibb County, Georgia. She returned to live with her parents at the age of thirteen, and continued her education in Camden, New Jersey. Dr. McLaughlin's credentials reflect over three decades of commitment to intellectual excellence, advocate for academic freedom and scholarship, strong leadership in student centered activities and programs.
After graduating from Camden High, Dr. McLaughlin attended Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina earning her Bachelors in Sociology. Bridgeport University, Bridgeport, Connecticut, recipient of Government Scholarship, Shriver Initiative. Rowan University, Glassboro, New Jersey, earned Master's of Education in Student Personnel Services. Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey, earned Doctorate of Education in Educational Theory. Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Wynnewood, Pennsylvania, earned Diploma in Pastoral Studies and Shiloh Theological Seminary, Stafford, Virginia, awarded Doctorate of Divinity.
Dr. McLaughlin's life and legacy will continue to be celebrated by her son's Jevon and Jacques McLaughlin, Medford, NJ, 5 grandchildren Jevon, Jevontã, Jahnir, (late) Diamond, Jacques, sisters Geraldine Purdue, Atlanta, Ga, Garnella Anderson and Rose Reynolds, Camden, NJ, and brothers Arlington Jr. and Michael Reynolds, Camden, NJ.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday March 28, 2015 at Bentley and Sons Chapel at 2714 Montpelier Avenue, Macon, Georgia 31204. Pastor E Dewey Smith, Jr. Officiating. Services entrusted to Bentley & Sons Funeral Home, Macon.
