Nancy Alfieri McCann

San Tan Valley, Arizona - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nancy Alfieri McCann. She peacefully left us in her sleep at the age of 84. She passed from dementia. Nancy had a terrific sense of humor, and she was known for her kindness and generosity. She loved her nephews and nieces, along with her grandnephews and grandnieces. She was always excited to see them when they came to visit. She always had a treat to give them. Nancy graduated from Escalon High School and went to San Jose to continue her education. Upon completion of school, she entered the job force. In 1965, Nancy was offered a job at the University of Santa Clara in the News Bureau. She enjoyed her job, and mostly she loved the people with whom she worked. Even after retiring, she continued to keep in touch with many of her fellow workers. She met Wes McCann during this time, and the two were married in 1974. Wes and Nancy enjoyed traveling, especially camping. They enjoyed visiting Canada and Banff National Park with their dog Mocha. They also enjoyed camping on the California coast. Nancy worked at the university for over 30 years, until she and Wes moved to Ripon, California, on 10 acres of her Nonno's family ranch. Here they built a home, and Wes took care of the almonds. Nancy enjoyed gardening, cooking, crafting, and sewing, taking gator rides with her grandnephews and grandnieces and just being on the ranch filled with cherished childhood memories. She loved the holidays, especially the joy of baking for others and gathering friends and family for her annual Christmas brunch. In 2023, Nancy and Wes moved to Arizona to be near Wes' brother and sister-in-law. At this time, Nancy was diagnosed with dementia. A special thanks to Wes, his brother Steve, and sister-in-law Anna McCann. They were so kind to Nancy and helpful to her in many ways. She will be missed by her husband, Wes McCann, and her family: sisters Theresa Alfieri Weinberg (Allen) of Portland, Judy Laugero of Napa, Patsy Abbott of Washington, and brother Pietro Alfieri. Nancy will also be missed by all of her nephews, nieces, grandnephews, and grandnieces. Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Marge Alfieri, and brother-in-law Douglas Laugero. A private service is being held with the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to a hospice organization of your choice.
