I did not know Gene well, but the comments I have heard regarding him personally and professionally were glowing. Our sorrow at the loss of his presence is great. Our prayers are with his family at this most difficult time.

I first met Gene in junior high, even though he didn't remember me when I asked him about it. Well, he was sooooo quiet back then. Gene claims he met me in high school and then we got closer at UTPB. It doesn't matter when we met....Gene was a really good friend of mine. He and I had coffee together every Tuesday and Thursday. And we always listened to each other complain in between classes. He always made me feel better no matter what was going on in my life. He would always give me a pat on the back or a hug and I ALWAYS felt better. I will miss Gene so much. I don't know what I will do now without his coffee and hugs. My thoughts and prayers are with Gene's family.

I remember Gene from the Computer lab at UTPB. We were students at the same time and even though we did not have classes together, we were both members of the "Tall Guys"club. We didn't need names, we could see above the crowd.

Where should I begin? Gene was first computer my teacher who made me feel like I was a great student. During that time we became friends and co conspiriters in some very mean tricks that were never played, but should have been. He comforted me when I was down and made me smile when I was mad about something. I loved him and no one will ever take his place in my heart. I will never forget him nor will anyone else that he came in contact with.

Gene was a good friend and a wonderful person, and Odessa College will not be the same without his smiling face in the Computer Science Dept. I offer my deepest condolences to his entire family.

As a friend, colleague and supervisor I will miss Gene. I had the pleasure of watching Gene mature. There were times when it was challenging to be his supervisor, because he was a free spirit. And that free spirit is what made Gene who he was.

I knew Gene as a fellow instructor at Odessa College. He was easy to visit with and had a sense of humor that when brought out often left our group in stitches. My best wishes and prayers go to his children.

In the scope of things, Gene and I did not know each other for very long. But I will never forget the numerous conversations we had...some on subjects that would greatly effect my life...others as trivial as an episode of a show we both liked. I will never forget these and will always cherish them. He was an inspiration to me...and I hope that he could take something away from these talks that we had as I did. I'm proud to say that he was one of my best friends. I will miss our talks terribly.

Gene was more than a friend to me, he was my brother, not by blood but by heart. I knew him since high school, and very seldom did a day go by that we didn't talk either on the phone or in person. I was very blessed to have him as a friend and for that I am forever greatful. He showed me what friendship is and even when things were bad for him he was always happy that he had his friends. Gene had a lot of friends, but he only had a few great friends and I was blessed to be called one of his best friends. I will truely miss you my friend, but I will always have you in my heart. Thanks for everything my brother.

Gene was the little brother that I never had. I know that he changed my life forthe better when we met in university. Gene believed in people and gave everyone a chance. I saw him in many different situations and he always choose the correct path, even when it was the least traveled. He choose to help people when he could, and many times there was a price that he had to pay.
Every time I returned to Odessa Gene was the first person I would see. He was a very dear friend and I will always keep him in my heart. The world is a sadder place without Gene. He will be missed dearly.

Gene was a good friend to me during a low time in my life. I was the voice of reason he turned to when he was down. I will miss your voice, friendship and laughter greatly. You touched my life Gene and it is infinitely richer because of that!
