Elizabeth M. (Beth) Bruce, age 89, of Conyers, Georgia, died October 24, 2024. She was born in the Newton County community of Oak Hill on December 6, 1934, the youngest of three daughters to Robert and Ruby Mitchell.
For many years, Mrs. Bruce worked in school cafeterias where she prepared and served meals to students. She was also in high demand as a sitter with the elderly. She sat many years with elderly individuals and couples, tending to their immediate needs of comfort. Her favorite role, however, was that of homemaker, serving and tending to the needs of her family. She will be remembered as a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt and friend.
She was also a faithful member of several lunch clubs to include: The Lunch Bunch (Alumni from Conyers High School), XYZ Club (First Baptist Church), 54 and More (First Methodist Church), Happy Hearts (Rockdale Baptist Church), Three F (Smyrna Presbyterian Church), Ladies Circle of Faith (Almon Baptist Church).
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Preston Bruce; sisters, Mary Lee Delp and Charlotte Dillard. Survivors include her children, Yvonne George (Mark), Wesley Bruce, Sandra Bruce; grandchildren, Holden George (Dana), Kirk George (Cayla), Kendra George; great-granddaughter, Madalynn George; several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A graveside service will be held 2 o'clock, Sunday, October 27, 2024, at Almon Baptist Church Cemetery, Covington, with her son-in-law, Rev. Mark George officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 26, at Henry Funeral Home, Lithonia, from 4-6 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in her memory to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org.
