Obituary published on Legacy.com by Null & Son Funeral Home on May 25, 2024.
Ada Mae Lewis, of Rolla, MO, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2024 at the age of 93.
She was born on March 12, 1931 in Duke, MO to the late James F. Walker and Rilda Pearl (Mobley) Walker. On October 19, 1957 she married Herbert Lewis. He preceded her in death on July 30, 2011.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by her daughter Verba Alkire; granddaughter Teresa Pearce; and seven sisters Ruth, Ruby, Iva, Opal, Elma, Orpha, and Nadine.
Ada's life was a tapestry woven with threads of passion and devotion. With each quilt she crafted, she poured her heart and soul into every stitch, creating masterpieces that spoke volumes of her love for her craft. Ada, beloved for her 17 years of service at Walmart and over 60 years of devotion to Macedonia Baptist Church, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and faith that will forever be cherished by her colleagues and church community alike. Her dedication to both her work and her spiritual journey serves as an enduring inspiration to all who knew her. Ada's days were filled with the vibrant hues of her garden, where she tended to her flowers with a tender care that mirrored her nurturing spirit. A loyal fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, she found joy in every game, her enthusiasm contagious to all around her. And in the quiet moments, she found solace in the company of her cows, each one cherished like a member of her own family. Ada's legacy is one of warmth, laughter, and a deep appreciation for life's simple pleasures. She will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of sharing in her love and kindness.
Ada will be greatly missed by her surviving family which includes: three sons, Leon Lewis and wife Evelyn of California, Dennis Lewis and wife Paula of Clinton, MO, Danny Lewis and wife Sherry of Rolla, MO; one daughter Dena Houston and husband Ron of Rolla, MO; one brother James Walker and wife Rosie of Owensville, MO; son in law Ralph Alkire; seven grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren; and special friend and caregiver Virginia Mills.
