Adam C. Kmiec was set free from his battle with early onset Alzheimer's disease on February 12, 2025.
Born on July 27, 1961 to the late Chester and Janet Kmiec, Adam was raised in Queens until his family relocated to Middletown when he was ten years old. He graduated from Middletown High School in 1979 and was a graduate of Hudson Valley Community College. From there, he went on to have a long career working with Astar Heating & Air Conditioning until his retirement. He married the love of his life, Maria Vignolesi, in 1988. They made their home and raised their family in Thompson Ridge.
Adam had a fun-loving nature, a strong work ethic, and a generous spirit. He loved to play practical jokes. Even in the depths of his diagnosis, his sense of humor showed through. Most of all, he cared deeply for his family. He was his children's #1 fan. Some of his favorite places to be were on the sidelines of a soccer field, in the audience at a dance recital, or at home with his close friends and family with a glass of tequila on the rocks.
Adam is survived by his loving wife Maria, who devoted herself to ensuring his comfort until his last breath. He will be dearly missed by his children James (Jessica) Conklin, Erika (Michael) Rosenberger, AJ (Gina) Kmiec, his nephew Anthony Meehan and son-in-law Herbert Santos. He was preceded to heaven by his daughter, Candace Santos, in 2024.
Adam was the proud grandfather of Giovanni, Mitchel, Ethan, James, Isalena, Sebastian, Adalyn, and Leandro, as well as another grandson on the way. He will be remembered by his sister-in law Angelina, nieces Veronica and Juilianna, and mother-in-law Bilma. He also leaves behind wonderful lifelong friends who showed up for him until the very end.
A short service will be held at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home on Monday, February 17th from 2pm-3pm. Adam was loved by so many, so the family asks everyone to join them for a Celebration of Life at American Legion Post 151 (185 Wawayanda Avenue, Middletown NY, 10940), immediately following the services.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
