Adolfo Castillo Aceveda, affectionately known as Randy and Kuya Doping, was a man of exceptional taste and remarkable talent, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025, in
Virginia Beach, Virginia. Born on July 26, 1943, in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro, Philippines, Adolfo lived a vibrant and fulfilling life of 81 years, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Randy retired from the United States Navy, after 20 years of honorable service as a culinary specialist. He was awarded several deployment ribbons and expeditionary medals throughout his travels around the world.
Following the military, Randy further dedicated his career to his passion for cooking, owning a restaurant and delighting patrons with his exquisite dishes and welcoming presence. His skills as a chef, honed over the decades, were paralleled by the warmth he shared with everyone at the table.
Beyond his professional achievements, Randy was a devoted family man and an avid gardener. He reveled in the simple joy of nurturing plants, embodying patience and care that extended to all facets of his life. He loved his farms in the Philippines where he tended to and cared for his chickens, goats and fish. His elegance and undeniable flair for being the best dressed, along with his exceptional and sometimes expensive taste, were well-known attributes that made him the charismatic individual he was.
A respected member of Owens Masonic Lodge #164, Adolfo exemplified the values of brotherhood, charity, and truth. His legacy continues through the love and memories shared by those who survive him: his beloved wife Nena; his cherished daughters Veronica, Rebecca, Crystal, and Ashley; his adored grandchildren Madelynn, DC, Andrew, Alyssa, Charlena, Alexander, Eva, Spencer, and Lunden; and his dear siblings Letty, Flora, Nilda, Alexander, Vilma, and Jessie. He also leaves behind a host of additional family members and adoring friends who will miss him dearly.
Adolfo was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Barcelona Aceveda and Igleceria Aguilar Castillo, and his sisters Florinda and Melody.
Services to honor Adolfo's life will be held at Altmeyer Funeral Home, located at 5033 Rouse Drive in
Virginia Beach, Virginia. A visitation is scheduled from 10 AM to 1 PM on Saturday, April 5, 2025, during which Masonic Rites will be rendered. A Memorial Mass will commence promptly at 1 PM following the viewing.
