Agnes E. "Terry" Robinson
Passed away on February 15, 2025
Terry was born in Hillview, Illinois on April 3, 1924 to Sadie Beatrice (Richardson) and Edwin Julius Carlberg. She had two older brothers, Bill (Gwen) and George (Louise) Carlberg and two younger sisters, Helen (Jack) Creviston and (George) Duling and Janet (Robert) Albertson. All have preceded her in death. She renamed herself Terry in 8th grade, having always disliked Agnes. Her two best friends Elizabeth and Dorothy also renamed themselves. Agnes became Terry, Elizabeth became Sandy and Dorothy became Dottie or Dot. The names remained with them the rest of their lives along with their friendship. When Pearl Harbor was bombed, Terry went to work at the Elwood Ordinance Plant (Joliet Arsenal). She moved up rapidly to become a government inspector at Group 1, inspecting 105mm Howitzer shells. She also was trained to x-ray TNT in the shells, rejecting bad shells. She met and married a retuning marine, Jack D. Robinson, on June 5, 1946. He preceded her in death in 2004. They loved dancing at The O'Henry, now the Willowbrook. They started a family in Joliet surrounded by family and friends. Terry lived for Joliet Band Mothers, sewing clothes for her two daughters, Wolf Lake Ranch and bowling. Terry wrote two books. One was a family cookbook and the other was a book about herself, WHAT MADE TERRY TICK. She was always involved and still had time to make sure the cookie jar was full for all the band boys, Joliet East football players and all the other kids at their house on Logan Ave. Terry and Jack were married for 58 glorious years. As a result of this union, three children were born.
Kathy Dee (Steve Myers), Jay Dee (Michelle) Robinson, and Janet Dee Gabel. Grandchildren Jeremy (Heather) Myers and Ben Myers (Heather Myers) with great grandchildren, Raegan and Sydney. Grandson's Caleb Robinson and Lucas Gabel. Granddaughter Elizabeth Gabel (Gregory Hermann) with great grandchildren Theodore Gregory and Willoughby Jack Hermann.
A private ceremony will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery to place her ashes with her beloved, Jack. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Elwood Community Church, 101 S. Chicago St, Elwood, Illinois 60421 or The Children Garden c/o The Village of Elwood, 401 E Mississippi Ave, Elwood, Illinois 60421.
