On Thursday March 27, the Three Musketeers became two when our mom and grandma, Aileen Mullaney, made her transition to her next adventure.

Aileen was born August 29, 1943 in Portsmouth, Virginia to Luther and Ether Arrant, the 4th daughter in what would become a family of 7 children. The family eventually relocated to Suffield, Ohio where she spent her formative years playing outside, running barefoot and eating fresh tomatoes from the garden. After graduating from Suffield High School, Aileen earned first her Bachelor's Degree in Education and then her master's Degree in School Psychology from Kent State. She was always proud to be a Kent State Golden Flash. Aileen was employed by Akron Public Schools where she helped hundreds of kids, families, teachers and peers over her 35 year career, even being awarded the very first Best Practices in School Psychology Award for the state of Ohio, alongside her dear friend and colleague Marjorie Cossin. Once she decided to retire, it didn't last long. She was asked to help with psychological services in Mogadore schools, then took an emergency position as the school psychologist for Southeast Local Schools which became a full-time position by the end of the first school year. She retired for good a few years later when her knees finally said, "enough." Family was always Aileen's greatest passion, and she also enjoyed camping, gardening and planting flowers, playing bridge, reading and being politically active. She was a part of several political campaigns, was a staunch supporter of women's rights and was the daily reporter of all political happenings at our dinner table~ a self-described political wonk.

Aileen was preceded in death by her parents Luther and Ethel Arrant, sisters and brothers-in-law Betty (Don) Kreiner, Bea (Glenn) Givens, Nancy (Mel) Bowman and Marge Arrant; brother Ed (Carol) Arrant, and infant brother Larry. She is survived by her daughter and granddaughter, Pamela and Phoebe Carlson with whom she shared a home, son Brian Chase, Gerry Mullaney (IYKYK), and brother Bill (Yvonne) Arrant. Also missing her are grandchildren Zay, Tyler (Chantrelle), Jordan (Josh), Nathan (Emily), Azalea, Kaylee, Gavin and Juniper; special friends Bonnie Horovitz and Margie Cossin, and a host of extended family and friends. Her furbaby grandkids Dannie, Blackberry and Miss Kitty greatly miss her pets and snuggles. We all love and miss her every day.

Always the educator, Aileen chose to donate her body for medical study to Case Western University. In keeping with her wishes to continue to help others in an educational setting, we would be honored if in lieu of flowers, you will consider donating to the K.I.N.D Fund-a cause she believed in with all her heart.
