Ailene B. West, 75, of Fillmore, CA, passed away on June 21, 2025, at the Ventura County Medical Center. She was born in Center, Texas, to Ruther and Algie Pilot on April 8, 1950. Ailene attended Manual Arts High School, graduating in 1968. She later earned a clerical certification from Bakersfield Adult School and took several classes at Ventura College.
Ailene enjoyed going to church, traveling, collecting various novelties, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. She was actively involved in several activities at the Ventura Church of Christ.
She is survived by her daughters, Monnette West and Michelle W. Johnson; her sister, Jo Lynn Poe; her brother, Edmond Pilot; her granddaughter, Maya Johnson; her nieces Shawn Jackson and Felicia Pilot; and her nephew, Dennis Pilot. Ailene is preceded in death by her husband, Matthew West III (also known as Duke); her parents, Ruther and Algie Pilot; her brother, Rufus Dennis Pilot Sr.; her son, Marcus D. West; her niece, Jennifer Anderson; and her nephew, Darryl Poe.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to UCLA Hematology and Oncology, the Community Memorial Hospital Infusion Center, the Ventura Church of Christ, and the Lighthouse Church of Santa Paula.
Family and friends are invited to Funeral services to be held at the Ventura Church of Christ on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with Andrew Hill of the Ventura Church of Christ officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the BOYKO & REARDON TELEGRAPH ROAD MORTUARY & CREMATION, 15 Teloma Drive, Ventura.
Flowers may be sent directly to the Mortuary. The family also suggested in lieu of flowers, donations by made to CLL Society in honor of Ailene B. West supporting Leukemia research and care.
