Alan Duane Dobbs, 69, of rural Covington, IN, passed away 4:07 PM Saturday October 14, 2023 at St Vincent Hospital in Anderson, IN.
Alan was born July 7, 1954 in Crawfordsville, IN the son of Raymond R. and Ella Marie (Blacketer) Dobbs. He was previously married to Tamela (Clouse) Reissmann; they were blessed with three children and later divorced.
Surviving family include two daughters, Kim (Darren) Chadd, Crawfordsville; Heather Johnson (Jason Campbell) Danville IL; a son, Brandon Dobbs, Williamsport; seven grandchildren, Justice (Lauren) Johnson, South Bend; Hannah (James) Kirkland, South Bend; Moriah Johnson (Cameron Fultz) Mishawaka; Kylah Stamper, Williamsport; Avery Chadd, Indianapolis; Hope Lighty, Crawfordsville; Evann Chadd, Carmel.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Diana Bilstad; and a brother, Steve Dobbs.
Alan graduated from Fountain Central High School in 1972. He had been employed at C&D Battery in Attica for over 30 years prior to his retirement.
He will be remembered as someone who placed a high value on working hard and enjoying the simple things in life. He enjoyed spending time outdoors gardening; and also hunting and fishing. He loved his children/grandchildren and treasured the time he was able to spend with them.
Visitation will be 12:00 – 2:00 PM Friday October 20, 2023 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg. Funeral service will begin 2:00 PM Friday October 20th at the funeral home with Pastor Tim Lyons officiating. Burial will be at Rockfield Cemetery near Veedersburg.
