Alan Clark Gillespie, 64, of Fort Bragg, CA, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on November 5, 2024. Alan was born on December 29, 1959, in Detroit, Michigan, to Thomas Gillespie and Carolyn Zanetti.
Alan had a lifelong passion for music and could often be found playing harmonica. He was dedicated to his family, finding his greatest joy in his children and grandchildren. He moved to the Mendocino Coast 34 years ago, where he made a lasting impact on his community by coaching youth sports for over 20 years.
Alan was a resilient person who overcame a serious accident in 1992, which left him with third-degree burns covering two-thirds of his body. Through his dedication to martial arts, especially Tai Chi and Qigong, he not only recovered faster than expected but grew stronger, turning this practice into a lifelong passion. Alan was deeply devoted to helping others find healing, always eager to offer his support. Known for his generous spirit, he touched countless lives with his kindness and selflessness. He also had a great love for the outdoors and found joy in nature's beauty.
Alan is survived by his spouse, Margaret; his children, Alana, Shannon, and Angelo; and his grandchildren, Caprice Tyson, Cameron Borges, and Layla Borges. He is also survived by his parents, Thomas and Carolyn Gillespie; his brothers, Tom and Jon Gillespie; his sisters, Carrie and Sue Gillespie; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Rob Gillespie.
