Kevin Dean Young

Kevin Dean Young 65, of Fort Bragg, California, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home on April 24, 2025, surrounded by many he held dear. Born on December 23, 1959, in Fort Bragg, raised in Mendocino, Kevin was the son of Lorna Kuny and Kenneth Young, both of whom preceded him in death. Kevin was known and loved by many for his strong, passionate personality and genuine heart. If Kevin joked with you or talked shop, you knew you were in his circle. Growing up, Kevin showed an early aptitude for hard work, delivering newspapers and mowing laws. Graduating from Mendocino High School in 1978, Kevin's blue-collar roots and strong work ethic led him into a career in automotive repair, where he discovered his true passion. After making significant contributions at Schlafer's Automotive in Mendocino, California, Kevin opened his own repair shop in Fort Bragg in 2004. Though his hands were often oily and his wit sharp, Kevin's heart was golden. Throughout his life, Kevin remained an avid sports enthusiast; early athletic passions from school translated into many years loyally coaching men's basketball and youth softball teams. He loved his San Francisco Giants, Golden State Warriors and San Francisco Niners and rarely missed a game. Sports were a vital part of his everyday life. In 1999, Kevin found the love of his life, Sandra, and the two were inseparable, marrying in 2009. Together they shared many memories and built a life full of love, laughter and unwavering support. On the weekends, Kevin cherished maintaining his yard, a space he kept meticulously pristine. Many afternoons were joyfully spent in his "man cave" listening to his favorite country tunes and swapping stories with anyone who dropped by. His yearly camping and fishing excursions always brought deep satisfaction and treasured memories. Kevin leaves behind his beloved wife Sandra Young, brother Thomas Junker, Children Sara Young, Kendra Laviletta (Stephen Laviletta), Ryan Anker (Tabetha Connell), as well as numerous grandchildren and extended family members. He joins in peaceful rest his parents Lorna Kuny (Sandy Chance) and Kenneth Young (Emma young), along with his sons Joshua Young and Joseph Anker. As Kevin would say to those who knew him "I'll always die Young" A celebration of Kevin's life will be held on Saturday, June 28th, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the Caspar Community Center in Caspar, Ca.
