Alan Muir Wilkinson, 93, of Narragansett passed away peacefully on March 17, 2025, with his daughter Allynn Mary Wilkinson beside him. He was the husband for 60 years of the late Alice Munslow Wilkinson. Born in Cranston, RI in 1931, he was the son of the late Percy and Gladys (Muir) Wilkinson and brother to Jean Gallaher and the late Barbara Anderson.
Alan graduated Cranston High School, Rhode Island School of Design (where he met Alice) and Roger Williams University. He was a member of the Rhode Island Air National Guard and a Brown and Sharpe apprentice. He worked as a design engineer for Northern Telecom, Bostitch and G-Tech as well as various independent positions.
His life was filled with special projects including restoring his Model A Ford coupe in high school, building and renovating every house he ever owned and creating a very special fish pond in his daughter's garden.
He loved to eat and his favorite foods were orange juice, chocolate covered donuts and anything smothered in maple syrup.
Besides his daughter, Allynn Mary of Stonington CT and his sister Jean of Oxnard, CA, he leaves his cousins, Carol Clayton, Dorothy Lee and Douglas Muir. He was uncle to Kurt Anderson, Kim Anderson True, Kris Lanzer, Vernon Gallaher, Narda Sturgeon, (the late) Robert Gallaher, Gary Sadowski, Eric Sadowski and Diane Domer.
His daughter would like to thank the CNAs and staff of Care at Home, Dr. Christopher Klaus and Dr. Robert Janigian Jr. for taking such wonderful care of Alan.
A graveside service will be held at 11am on Saturday, March 22nd at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, in Johnston.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the wonderful people of Hope Hospice to help others with all the excellent work that they do.
