MR. ALBERT "BERT" L. GREGG, 94, of Louisville passed on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. He grew up in Jeffersontown, attended St. Edward School, graduated from St Xavier High School and soon after joined The Navy and was stationed in Virginia Beach. He married his high school sweetheart, Pat Hughes, in 1952. They built their home in Jeffersontown where they lived the rest of their lives.
They were active members of St. Edward Catholic Church and founding members of St. Michael Catholic Church.
Bert was a devoted and loving family man. His hobbies included bicycling, frog gigging, sailing, and spending time at his river house in Prospect. Their home was always a welcome gathering place for friends and family.
He retired from American Air Filter where he worked as an electrician and engineering consultant.
He is preceded in death by his wife Patricia "Pat" Ann Gregg, his parents Eugene Francis and Mary Genevieve Gregg and his brothers John Eugene "Jack," Theodore Joseph "Dutch," and David Clifford "Cliff," his sister Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Netherlain, and his grandson Nicholas Gregg Martion.
Left to cherish his memory are his siblings: Mary Genevieve "Gene" Heichelbech (Eddie), Stephen "Steve" Francis Gregg (Janice), and Kathleen "Kathy/Susie" Marie Gregg; Sister-in-law Frances Gregg; children: Michael "Mickey" Gregg (Maureen), Cathy Lyles, Laura Martion (Jeff), Julie Hurley (Jim), and MaryAnn Yocum (Gary); grandchildren: Jacob Martion, Austin Lyles, Dallas Hurley, Lauren Byrd, Brooke Feather, Dahlon Lyles, Bryn Gregg, Dillon Gregg, Maggie Gregg, and Hunter Martion and 9 great grandchildren.
There will be a memorial funeral mass celebrating Albert and his wife, Patricia, who passed in April 2020 during the Covid Pandemic, at 10 am on Friday, August 9, 2024 at St Edward Catholic Church 9608 Sue Helen Dr. A visitation will also be held later that day from 3-7 pm at Ratterman and Sons Funeral Home – Jeffersontown 10600 Taylorsville Rd. on Friday, August 9, 2024.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to Catholic Charities of Louisville or The Kentucky Humane Society.
