Albert L. Henriques, also known as "Derrick", 68, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, passed away on September 18, 2024, at Florida Medical Center. He was born in Kellits, Clarendon, Jamaica W.I., to the late Enid and John Henriques. Growing up, Albert attended Kellits Secondary High School and successfully completed his high school education. After finishing high school, Albert worked for the Integrated Rural Development Program (IRDP), where he began to develop skills in agricultural engineering.
After gaining experience as an agricultural engineer, Albert then emigrated to Windsor, Connecticut, and later moved to Brooklyn, New York, where he earned his contractor license and successfully worked as a self-employed licensed contractor. Albert then moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he lived for the rest of his life continuing to serve his customers with ambition and focus. He took pride in his work and had impeccable wood carving skills. His hobbies included cricket, soccer, and motorcycle riding.
He is survived by his son, Damian Henriques, and his two daughters, Tanesha Henriques and Tasa-Vaughan Henriques; 11 grandchildren, as well as his siblings, Shereta, Curnal, Movell, Rodrigues and Jason along with a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends. Henriques was predeceased by one grandchild, his brothers, John, Vivian, Clement and Uklan and his sister, Beverly.
