Albert J. Henson

Albert J. Henson, age 88, passed away October 31, 2024 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland, ME. He was born October 19, 1936 in Waltham, MA, son of the late Albert O. Henson and Esther (Dow) Henson.
Albert grew up in Swampscott, MA and was a graduate of Swampscott High School. He was one of four children in his family. Albert served proudly and honorably in the United States Marine Corps Reserves and was discharged as a Corporal on November 2, 1962. It was while he was in the service that he met the love of his life, Jeannette Ash and they married on October 21, 1961. They resided for 10 years in Swampscott before moving to Fremont, NH in 1972. Professionally, Albert was a carpenter, initially with Swift and Son in MA. Later, he was hired by General Electric as a draftsman and later retired as a maintenance carpenter. Albert was a member of the Marine Corps League in Portsmouth, was a member and former Past Master of the Masonic Tucker Lodge in Raymond, the Wayfarers Lodge AF@AM, Victory Chapter #157 Order of the Eastern Star in Swampscott, MA and was also a member of the Scottish Rite. Above all else, Albert was a devoted family member to his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed in his younger years going to the Allagash with his father. Following his retirement, he spent 2 summers in Alaska traveling around and relishing his time fishing around the state.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife, Jeannette Henson in 1992, and two brothers, Rodney Henson and Thomas Dunlop.
Albert is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Albert G. Henson and Karen Henson, daughter and son-in-law, Fawn Towers and Mark Towers, son and daughter-in-law, Laurance Henson and Kristen Henson, 7 grandchildren, Douglas, Daniel, Robbie, Amanda, Jason, Andrew and Ambur, great-grandchildren, Zoey, Catherine, Max, Albie, Eirik, Dougie, sister, Diane Devonshire and many loved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2024 from 11:00 AM-3:00 PM at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 2 Epping St., Raymond, NH. The funeral service will follow starting at 3:00 PM at the funeral home.
Private burial with military honor will be held at the Village Cemetery, Fremont, NH.
