Alec S. Patterson

Alec S. Patterson, 21, of North Huntingdon, passed away unexpectedly from a heart condition on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2024. He was born on Jan. 31, 2003, in Monroeville, a son of Shawn Patterson and Patricia Novak Patterson. Alec was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Irwin and a graduate of Norwin High School in the Class of 2021. He had a passion for music, was a talented pianist, and loved to play the tuba in the Norwin Band. Alec was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg, where he earned a bachelor's degree with dual majors in both secondary education and history. He was a Da Vinci scholar and earned a spot on the Dean's List during all four years of his schooling. Following his collegiate graduation, Alec became a student-teacher at Greater Latrobe High School, a role which he cherished. Alec was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Mary Jane Patterson; and maternal grandparents, Paul and Mary Lou Novak. In addition to his parents, Alec is survived by his paternal grandmother, Sandra Patterson (and the late Duayne Patterson); cousins, Alexander, Michael, Natalie, Annie, Gracie, Jimmy, Mila, Aubree, and Noah; and aunts and uncles, Paula, Marianne, Kerie, Lee, and Dean. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., on Thursday, at the JAMES W. SHIRLEY FUNERAL HOME, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m., on Friday, in Immaculate Conception Church, with interment to follow in West Newton Cemetery.
