BURLEY – Alejandro Alvarez Alvarez (Alex, Wiky, Ale), a 16-year-old resident of Burley, passed away Friday, March 15, 2024, at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello.
Alejandro was a Junior at Burley High School and wanted to become a welder. Throughout his schooling he explored playing different sports and musical instruments like soccer, wrestling, guitar, and clarinet. He enjoyed going to the gym, spending prayer time at the church, and playing with his siblings. Moreover, Alejandro was highly involved in the church's youth group acting as an aide to the Sunday school teachers and was planning to attend a statewide Catholic Youth Conference earlier this month and a youth retreat in Georgia this upcoming June. Additionally, he was a helping hand to those around him and was known to always greet others if he knew them.
Alejandro was preceded in death by his stillborn brother, Angel Jesus Alvarez Alvarez. He is survived by his two other brothers, Alfredo (Jr) Alvarez Alvarez, and Ariel Alvarez Alvarez; his parents, Estela Alvarez Zavala and Alfredo Alvarez Mendoza; with paternal and maternal grandparents and numerous members of his extended family.
A vigil service will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday, March 21, at St. Therese the Little Flower Catholic Church, located at 1601 Oakley Ave., in Burley, where the recitation of the rosary will begin at 6 p.m.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, March 22, also at St. Therese the Little Flower Catholic Church in Burley. Burial will follow at Gem Memorial Gardens in Burley. After the funeral service there will be a reception in the church as well, and all are welcome.
Arrangements are under the care of Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley.
BURLEY – Alejandro Álvarez Álvarez (Alex, Wiky, Ale), un residente de Burley de 16 años, falleció el viernes 15 de marzo de 2024 en el Centro Médico Portneuf en Pocatello.
Alejandro era un estudiante de tercer año en Burley High School y quería convertirse en soldador. A lo largo de su escolaridad exploró la práctica de diferentes deportes e instrumentos musicales como el fútbol, deporte de lucha, la guitarra y el clarinete. Le gustaba ir al gimnasio, pasar tiempo de oración en la iglesia y jugar con sus hermanos. Además, Alejandro estaba muy involucrado en el grupo de jóvenes de la iglesia, actuando como ayudante de los maestros de la escuela dominical y planeaba asistir a una Conferencia de Jóvenes Católicos a nivel estatal a principios de este mes y a un retiro de jóvenes en Georgia el próximo mes de junio. Además, era una mano amiga para quienes lo rodeaban y era conocido por saludar siempre a los demás si los conocía.
Alejandro fue precedido en la muerte por su hermano, Ángel Jesús Álvarez, que falleció antes de nacer. Le sobreviven sus otros dos hermanos, Alfredo (Jr) Álvarez Álvarez y Ariel Álvarez Álvarez; sus padres, Estela Álvarez Zavala y Alfredo Álvarez Mendoza; con abuelos paternos y maternos y numerosos miembros de su familia extendida.
El jueves 21 de marzo, de 5 a 7 p.m., se llevará a cabo un servicio de vigilia en la iglesia católica Sta. Theresa la Pequeña Flor, ubicada en 1601 Oakley Ave., en Burley, donde el rezo del rosario comenzará a las 6 p.m.
La misa fúnebre se celebrará a las 11 a.m. el viernes 22 de marzo, también en la iglesia católica St. Therese the Little Flower en Burley. El entierro se llevará a cabo en Gem Memorial Gardens en Burley. Después de los servicios fúnebres habrá una recepción en la iglesia donde todos son bienvenidos.
Los arreglos están bajo el cuidado de la Funeraria Rasmussen-Wilson de Burley.
