Alexander "Alex" Nicholas Frenkel, 17, beloved son of Maria Litzendorf of West Hartford and Joseph Frenkel of Norfolk, Virginia, passed away suddenly on Thursday May 22, 2025. Alex was born in Boston, in the middle of the night during a fierce snowstorm. He was a boisterous child, who grew up to be a wise, and exceptionally kind and loving young man. He was funny in the way that showcased his understanding of people, and his intelligence. He was raised in Virginia where he was currently a junior at Granby High School in Norfolk, and an honor student in the International Baccalaureate program. He was interested in pursuing a career in medicine, following in his parents' footsteps. He had recently started wrestling, which he loved. He liked going to the gym, playing video games like Minecraft and Fortnite, and being with his friends. Alex loved adventure, the highest and fastest rollercoasters, and skiing black diamonds thanks to the efforts of his father and his aunt. Alex loved his car and driving, and was meticulous about both. Most of all, Alex loved his family, his father, his mother, and his sister Sarah, whom he adored. Besides his parents, father Joseph, and mother Maria (Hooman); he leaves his sister Sarah Litzendorf of West Hartford; grandparents Louisa Litzendorf of West Hartford, William Litzendorf (Regina) of Titusville, Florida, and Barbara Frenkel (Barry) of White Plains, New York; aunts Dekea Litzendorf of Arlington, Virginia and Elisabeth Frenkel of Scottsdale, Arizona, and an uncle Robert Frenkel of White Plains, New York; and many beloved cousins, great aunts and uncles.
His family will receive relatives and friends Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 5-7 PM at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2025, 11:30 AM at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 433 Fairfield Ave., Hartford. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Alexander was a kind-hearted soul that was first to notice if you weren't doing okay. I knew Alex in middle school and although life slowly pulled us away from each other; which then led him and I to go to different high schools, I always managed to find myself smiling at the accomplishments that I got to see him experience within the past few years. He was so loved and had a smile that lit up every room he walked in.

My condolences go to those who did get to him, to his family who was robbed of being able to see him grow up into the man that we all knew he was possible of achieving. And lastly, my condolences to those who loved Alex the most and made him the happiest young man.

We won't let him be forgotten nor will we take for granted the life that this world has given us. We all love you Alex, and we'll see you soon.
