Mr. Wrubel was born February 24,1940 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Joseph and Katherine Dzagan Wrubel.
Alex faithfully served his country in the US Air Force as a Military Police Officer and afterwards he started his own business in the frozen food delivery business in New York. He volunteered many hours at the Hem of His Garment; he delivered Meals-on-wheels for many years in North Carolina after his retirement, until his health failed. Alex had a gift for comedy and loved to sing. All those on his route would look forward to a joke and song to brighten their day.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Wrubel and his sister, Marianne Zerucha.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 59 years (he passed just 5 days short of their 60th wedding anniversary), Patricia Sisco Wrubel of the home; son, John Wrubel (Jennifer) of Swansboro; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-8 PM at Jones Funeral Home, Swansboro Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the following charities; St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105; Tunnel to Towers; and Samaritans' Purse.
