Alexandro "Alex" Diaz, 31, of East Peoria, formerly of Naperville and Plainfield, IL passed away on April 29, 2024, at his home. He was born on May 16, 1992, in Aurora IL.
Alexandro leaves behind his mother Marilu (Raul Herrera) nee Navar. His dear brother Antonio "Tony" Diaz. Alex also leaves behind his Grandmother Maria "Alita" Navar, his Godmother/Aunt Diana "Nina" (David Rodriguez) nee Navar, his cousins The Rodriguez kids, David, Cristina and Daniel, his Godfather/Uncle Armando Navar Jr. He left behind his father and many aunts, uncles and extended family members.
Alex grew up in Oswego, IL and attended Oswego High School. While in school Alex participated in the special olympics and was especially fond of hanging out with his grandfather Armando "Papa" Navar his aunt Lidia "Lily" Navar, found it hilarious in being a little mischievous, greatly enjoyed listening to Norteño music, was mesmerized in watching Pixar Movies and of course Sponge Bob, but most of all having sleepovers with his grandma and grandpa, where he was greatly spoiled and loved every minute of it. Alex loved attention and although the Lord did not give him a voice, he had a beautiful way of letting his family know about his unconditional love. In 2022 Alex moved to East Peoria where he made many friends that are as special as he was. They communicated, enjoyed going to workshop and had fun in their own special ways. In the group home the feeling of love and innocence was priceless. His gifted caretakers helped him 100% with his daily challenges. He will forever be grateful.
A former member of St. Mary Immaculate church in Plainfield and a current member of St. Peter and Paul church, Alex had a deep faith in God beyond imaginable, that saw him through many of life's challenges.
A true lover of Chicago cuisine, Alex was never known to turn down a trip to Portillo's and was extremely excited when one was built in East Peoria. Alex and his Papa even created their own sign language when ordering his 2 hotdogs, onion rings and large lemonade.
