Ruben Diaz, 82, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL. He was born February 18, 1943 in Puerto Rico, relocating to Waukegan, IL in 1953 and was a graduate of Waukegan High School in 1962. Ruben retired from Stone Container Corporation after 47 years as a production manager and took pride in being a devout Catholic. He enjoyed playing baseball on the Diaz family baseball team in his younger years, enjoyed gardening & looking forward to sharing all his produce with neighbors & friends. Ruben also enjoyed fishing, animals, salsa dancing and will be remembered as always being active and will be dearly missed by all his family & friends. Surviving is his wife of 13 years, Rosa (nee Gaitan) Diaz; daughter, Cynthia (Luis) Roman; stepchildren, Ivan (Alicia) Jiron & Sharon (Brandon) Henderson; 5 grandchildren, Cameron Roman, Javier & Gabriel Jiron and Zoe & Levi Henderson and by 8 siblings, Juan A. (Josephine) Diaz, Brunilda Diaz, Lydia (Gary) Martinez, Gumersindo Diaz, Magdalena (Richard) Jankowski, Danny (Jill Wolf) Diaz, Eugene Diaz, Mary Lou Diaz. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julio Diaz & Quintina Caceres-Diaz and by a brother, Naphtali Diaz. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. (one block West of Milwaukee Ave.) in Libertyville. Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 121 E. Maple Ave. in Libertyville. Interment will follow to Ascension Cemetery.
