Alfred Caprara, 92, of Monroe, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center Health in Plainsboro, New Jersey.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, after school he worked for Waymark Suits and Coats. At the age of 21, Al joined the Army and proudly served his country during the Korean War. Upon completion of his military service, he worked for many years as a School Bus Driver for Varsity Transit Company. Upon retirement he and his wife followed their children, who settled in New Jersey many years ago. Al could often be found at the billiard room playing a game of pool and catching up with his friends. Also, every morning grabbing his coffee and donuts at his local Dunkin!
Predeceased by his wife, Jean Caprara; his parents, Olindo and Tessie Caprara; his brother, John Caprara; and his sister, Marie Spennato. He is survived by his children, Linda Schurott (Brian), Louis Caprara (Carol), and Alfred (Diane) Caprara Jr.; his grandchildren, Brianne (Kyle) Farris, Nicole (Alex) Venesco, Emily, Caprara, Gabrielle Caprara, Alyssa (Mathias) Caprara Rivers, Kerianne Caprara and Dana Caprara; his great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Farris, Connor Farris, Giovannina Rivers, and August Rivers.
A Memorial Gathering for family and friends will be held on Sunday, March 16, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. at A.S. Cole Son & Co., 22 North Main Street, Cranbury, NJ, with a Prayer Service to begin at 5:30 p.m.
Committal Services and Military Honors will be held on Monday, March 17, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the Green-wood Cemetery Chapel located on 25th Street, Brooklyn, NY. Guests are invited to meet at the chapel.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Al's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital by visiting In Memory Of at inmemof.org

Condolences to the Caprara family on the passing of Alfred. He was a great man who will be missed by all that knew him. With each loss of our dear parents and elderly relatives, we all lose part of our past that can never be replaced. We must keep them alive in our memories and continue their precious traditions.
