Alice Wilda Brady, 86, of Lithia, FL was born to Ellis and Josephine Arrington on March 15, 1939, in Hazelwood, NC (now incorporated into Waynesville, NC). She entered her rest in the arms of Jesus on June 3, 2025.
Wilda Brady was always proud to have been born and raised in a small town in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Growing up, she loved playing in the creeks near her home, climbing trees, singing in her hometown church, and traveling on Sundays with her father to small churches in the mountains where he filled in as a lay preacher. Wilda also enjoyed helping her dad in the garden and her mother with the cooking. She often shared fond memories of taking her wagon around her town with vegetables from her dad's garden and baked goods her mother made to share with those less fortunate in her community.
As an adult, Wilda was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. She married her husband, Robert L. Brady, of 69 years on July 22, 1956. Wilda lovingly cared for her children and husband throughout her life, and she later acted as a compassionate caretaker to her father and her brother, Champ. Wherever she lived, she was known to her neighbors as someone who could be counted on to assist them in their time of need.
Wilda loved her dachshunds, which were like her four-legged children. She cared for many over the course of her life: Honeypoo, Ginger Lynn, Pokey, Meggie May, and Molly.
Another love of Wilda's was flowers. She was well known to family and friends to have a green thumb. She raised beautiful roses, violets, orchids, and plumerias throughout her life.
Wilda was an excellent Southern cook who lovingly prepared fresh meals for her family. Her most loved dishes by family and friends included her buttermilk cornbread, green beans, lima beans, and tuna salad.
Wilda lived a long life always making known her faith in God and prayers sustained her and her family.
Wilda will be deeply missed by her husband, Robert L. Brady; her children: Robert Brady, Susan (Paul) Phillips, David Brady, Karen (Michael) Kennedy; her grandchildren: Christopher (Maria) Phillips, Jeffrey (Felicia) Phillips, Amber Phillips, Katelyn Kennedy, Brady (Michelle) Kennedy, Christina Brady and Kyle Brady; and her great grandchildren: Logan Phillips and Leila Phillips.
Wilda was preceded in death by her parents, her seven siblings, and her grandson, David Brady.
