Alice Carol Buse

BUSE, Alice Carol (nee Smain), age 88, went to be with the Lord on August 28, 2025.

Alice Carol was born in her home in Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky on September 9, 1936, to her loving parents, the late Marce and Helene Smain.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert O. Buse, Sr.and her cherished sister Helen Jean (Smain) Bluemle.

Loving mother of Michele Marie Buse, Helene Marie Buse (Thomas Donohue), Robert O. Buse, Jr. (Lori), and Thomas Marce Buse (Sheelah).

Dear grandmother of Elizabeth Anne Gardner (Mitchell), Sphiwe “Dinho” Zwane Buse, Robert O. Buse, III (Maura), Sarah Michele Naysmith (Murray), Anna Marie Buse, Rebekah Catherine Buse, Joseph Thomas Buse, John Paul Buse, Grace Nicole Buse, and Caroline Frances Buse.

Dear great grandmother of Savannah, Remi, and Camille.

Also preceded in death by many beloved family members and friends and survived by her cherished nieces, nephews, godchildren, relatives, and friends.

Alice Carol graduated from Villa Madonna Academy and Villa Madonna College (now Thomas More University) with her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Spanish in 1958. After graduation until she married, she was a social worker for the Diocesan Catholic Children’s Home in Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky, and the Catholic Social Services Bureau in Covington. After raising her children, Alice Carol continued her service to children and the elderly by her work on the bereavement committee of St. James of the Valley Church in Wyoming, Ohio, and in working in nursing homes, reading to the elderly, and religious education to children.

Alice Carol’s greatest loves were her family, Jesus Christ and her Catholic faith. She enjoyed gardening, flower-arranging, traveling, cooking, genealogy, and photography.

Visitation will be held at the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption, 1140 Madison Ave, Covington, KY 41011, on Thursday, September 4, 2025, from 9:30 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, KY.
