Alice Kay Fonner

Alice Kay Fonner, age 73 of Canton, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2025. She was born May 25, 1951 in Canton, the daughter of the late James William and Mary Catherine (Guist) Fonner. Alice was a graduate of Lincoln High School, continuing on to Kent State University where she earned her Masters Degree in Education. Before retiring in 2013, Alice had been employed by the Canton City Schools for over 30 years. She taught in special education, choosing to work exclusively with students K-1st grade. Her students thrived academically and socially under her care, and she instilled in them a sense of pride, self-worth, and knowledge of a job well-done. Alice was awarded CCS Teacher of the Year Award in 2005 because of her dedication and the strides her students achieved throughout the years.
She is survived by brothers, sisters in-law, nieces, nephews and many friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, April 10,th at 11am, at St Stephen Martyr Lutheran Church, 4600 Fulton Dr. NW, Canton, Ohio 44718. In lieu of flowers please consider a monetary donation to "Habitat for Humanity, East Central Ohio." In the check memo write, "For childrens' books for partner families."
