Alice Anne Gregorski

Alice Anne Gregorski (nee Nahalka) of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2024. She was 82 years old.
Alice was born to John and Syvilla Nahalka (nee Johnson) on June 10, 1941, in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Alice is survived by her loving husband of nearly 59 years, Ron; her daughter, Lisa; son, David; and her cherished grandchildren, Adam and Hannah Wieczorek. Also survived by special goddaughter and niece, Mary Laurel Grogan; many other nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, John Grogan; two sisters-in-law, Jo Gregorski and Karen Gregorski; in addition to many dear friends, including her long-time friends, Mary Ann Adams and Jo Sajdak.
Alice is preceded in death by her parents, John and Syvilla Nahalka; brother-in-law, Robert Barwick; dear sister-in-law, Marilyne Barwick; sister-in-law, Patricia Grogan; brothers-in-law: Jack Gregorski, James Gregorski, and Rick Gregorski; and long time friend, Margo Vukovich.
Alice grew up in Kenosha, Wisconsin. As a young girl, she enjoyed being near the lake shore and spent a lot of time at the beach swimming with friends. As a teenager, she worked for The Spot Drive In as a car hop. She graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School in June 1959, and then attended the Milwaukee County Hospital School of Nursing. She graduated from nursing school in August of 1962. While there, she met two of her very dear friends, Mary Ann Adams and Margo Vukovich. A couple of years after graduating from nursing school she was working as a nurse in the Milwaukee area when Alice met Ron Gregorski at a chance encounter at a gas station near the corner of 84th and Bluemound in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. They dated and married on June 12, 1965. They raised their two children, Lisa and David, in Wauwatosa, and then in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin.
When they made the move from Wauwatosa to Menomonee Falls, they were fortunate to meet some wonderful neighbors. Cori and Bob Schlitt were neighbors who became good friends, and their daughter, Lynn, became a good friend to Lisa and David. Other good neighbors have been Rick and Jennine, Bob and Jane, Roger and Barb, Eileen and Ron, and Bernice. They were always a supportive group of people. Alice was appreciative of their kindness through the years.
Alice and her two lifelong friends, Mary Ann and Margo, started a yearly tradition of Christmas cookie baking that lasted well over 50 years and came to include Alice’s daughter Lisa, her sister-in-law, Marilyne Barwick, and her granddaughter, Hannah, as well. Alice loved Christmas and the holidays and was a master “decorator”, loving all things Christmas. For many years she held a traditional Christmas/holiday party for family and friends every January that was loved by all! Alice was a people person and she loved to host gatherings or attend others gatherings. She was known for her sense of humor, quick wit, sarcasm, and love of gathering with family and friends. She was devoted to her two grandchildren, Adam and Hannah. She babysat for them when they were younger. She was a proud Nana, who loved attending their sporting events and school concerts, or anything they did. Alice had a love of shopping and her two favorite spots to shop were Kohl’s and Target. Back in the day she frequented Mayfair Mall and loved Marshall Fields.
Alice spent the majority of her nursing career working at Milwaukee County General Hospital with the new moms and babies on the obstetrics/gynecology/maternity floor. There she developed strong bonds with many of her nursing colleagues. Many of whom she grew to call friends, most especially, Jo Sajdak and Pat Meyer.
Alice and Ron belonged to a Bunco group that was comprised of Ron’s fellow West Allis Central alumni. They have spent many fun times laughing and playing Bunco with their friends from this group.
Alice was a voracious reader and could usually be found holding a book, magazine, or the newspaper. She never went anywhere without her makeup and perfume on. She had a generous heart and was a loving wife, mother, nana, aunt, and friend to many, as well as a wonderful nurse. Her wit, spunkiness, sense of humor, generosity, and spirit will forever be remembered and missed by all who knew and loved her.
A very special thank you to Alice’s two caregivers in her last 4 months of her life, Selena and Precious. Their care and dedication are so appreciated. They helped keep her well cared for and comfortable at home, which is where she wanted to be. We are truly grateful for you!
