Alice F. Suszek, age 106, passed away, peacefully, on Tuesday, September 19 at Turning Brook Assisted Living, Alpena.
Alice was Born on November 25, 1916, in the family home on Minor St., to Angus & Mary Chrzran.
On September 1941, she married Edwin Suszek at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alpena.
Together, they built their family home next door to Alice's childhood home where she was born on Minor Street. He preceded her in death in 2017 at the age of 98.
She is survived by her children Gary (Mary) Suszek of Hubbard Lake, Rick (Sue) Suszek of Alpena, three grandchildren; Naia, Rheanne, Janine and one great grandson, Ransom.
One grandson, Adam, preceded her in death, along with her five brothers; Leo, Clem, Phil, Louie, Frank, three sisters; Beatrice, Blanche, Domacille (Ciel) and many nieces and nephews.
She attended Catholic School until the 8th grade and then worked at the Alpena Garment Factory as a seamstress.
Alice loved growing up with her large family. Since she had experienced the tragic loss of her father at age 15, Alice stepped into the role of helping her mother maintain the family household with cooking, baking and growing beautiful flowers. She cherished spending time with her mother and caring for her brothers and sisters. Polish traditions and her Catholic faith were of utmost importance to her. She was a life-time member of St. Mary's Rosary Society.
The family would like to acknowledge the staff at Turning Brook and Hospice Compassus for the care provided.
The mass celebrating Alice's life, will be held on Friday, September 29 at All Saints Catholic Church, Alpena. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM; with funeral mass beginning at noon (luncheon immediately following at All Saints Social Hall).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to All Saints Catholic School, Alpena MI in memory of Alice Suszek. McWilliams Funeral Home is assisting the family.
