It is with deep sadness that we announce that Allan Ralph Fanslau, age 73, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. He was born to Harold & Lillian Fanslau on June 3, 1951, of St. Joseph, Michigan.
Allan graduated from Saint Joseph High School in 1969, and continued his education with a Bachelors of Science Degree from Northern Michigan University in Marquette, MI class of 1979. Allan's professional career entailed many years in automotive sales, which brought him to retirement with Signature Toyota of Benton Harbor in 2016.
Allan truly enjoyed, as well as embraced, the Michigan lifestyle. From cross country skiing and snow shoeing in his younger years, camping with his family in the UP, to his favorite passion- sailing on Lake Michigan (with a cold Miller High Life in his hand). Sailing was mostly for enjoyment, but also included years of racing with his brother Fred, locally with the St. Joseph River Yacht Club.
Allan's life revolved around family, especially his daughter Ashley Fanslau, and his nieces & nephews. He also very much enjoyed watching his favorite football teams- the Chicago Bears & Michigan State Spartans.
His "one of a kind" personality will be truly missed by all.
Allan is survived by his loving daughter, Ashley Fanslau; siblings, Fred (Cheryl Castle) Fanslau, David Fanslau, Nora Turner, Julie Ann Fanslau; and his nieces and nephews, Stephanie, Julie, Eric, and Steven. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation has taken place and private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to the Starks and Menchinger Chapel, St. Joseph, Michigan
