Allan P. MacGilvray Sr., age 81, a longtime resident of Tyngsboro, passed away at Lowell General Hospital on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Anna (Alteriso) MacGilvray with whom he enjoyed 61 years of marriage.
He was born in Medford on December 4, 1940 and was the son of the late Harold and Ruth (St. Dennis) MacGilvray.
Allan worked for many years as a skilled tradesman in the Boston area and for the Town of Tewksbury Water Department. He loved boating and fishing on Lake Arrowhead, Lake Winnipesauke, and Sebago Lake. Allan and Anna were snowbirds and enjoyed their winters in various part of Florida. He adored his grandson and never missed any of his sporting events. He coached and was an umpire for youth baseball in Tewksbury and also coached his grandson's baseball team in Tyngsboro. Above all, Allan was happiest spending time with his family.
In addition to his loving wife, Allan is survived by his children, Allan P. MacGilvray Jr. of Lowell, and Denise Fansel and her husband Andrew of Tyngsboro; his grandson, Alex Fansel; his siblings, Claire Maglio of Missouri, Robert MacGilvray of Tewksbury, Daniel MacGilvray and his wife Diane of Woburn, Steven MacGilvray and wife his Christine of Maine, and Ruth MacGilvray of Medford; and several nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his siblings, Harold MacGilvray, John MacGilvray, June DeRosa, and Kenneth MacGilvray.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, November 8th from 9am to 11am at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Ave., DRACUT followed by a service in the funeral home at 11am. Interment will follow at 12:45pm at Lakeside Cemetery, 501 North Ave., WAKEFIELD. KINDLY GATHER AT THE CEMETERY.
