He was born to Merle Godwin and Hazel (nee Womack) Essex on January 13, 1960 in Murphysboro, Illinois.
Allen had worked for Gilster Mary-Lee Corporation.
He was fascinated by the railroad and love to build train sets.

It was Allen's wish to be cremated. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 29, 2025 at New Palestine Cemetery in Walsh with Dr. Mike Fogerson officiating.
Memorials may be made to a cancer foundation of the donor's choice and are being accepted at Pechacek Funeral Home in Chester, Illinois
