Allen H. Harris, Jr., 82, of Quarryville, formerly of Columbia, MD, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. He was the beloved husband of Katherine I. (Patton) Harris, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.

Born in Aldan, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Allen H., Sr., and Florence Marguerite (DuBois) Harris.

Allen was a 1962 graduate of Landsdowne-Aldan High School, a 1964 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, and a 1968 graduate of Westminster Theological Seminary. Allen first served with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. He then went on to serve as the Senior Pastor of Columbia Presbyterian Church, Columbia, MD, for 33 years. Having a passion for teaching, Allen also was a professor at Westminster Theological Seminary.

Allen enjoyed the outdoors, working in his garden, and finding trails to hike. Christmas was his favorite time of year. Allen was known for his extensive Christmas decorations and, when December rolled around, he would count down the days till Christmas. He also enjoyed dogs, reading books, and listening to Classical and 50s music.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Heather Harris, wife of David Portnoy, of Baltimore, MD, Julie S. Harris, of Parker, CO, and Allen Dean Harris, of Philadelphia. He is also survived by four grandchildren.

A Celebration of Allen's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, at Columbia Presbyterian Church, 10001 MD-108, Columbia, MD 21044. Contact Kathie at 717-786-3031 if you have questions about the service.
