Allen Ray Wedel, 70, of Hutchinson, died May 24, 2025, at Via Christi- St. Francis, Wichita. He was born November 15, 1954, in Hutchinson, KS, to Bert and Earlene Marie (Prichard) Wedel.
Allen graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1972. After completing high school, he attended Mid America Nazarene University in Olathe, where he earned his bachelor's degree. For most of his life, Allen worked as a commercial electrician.
When Allen wasn't fixing things, working with his hands, or adding to his immense collection of tools, he was out fishing or watching sports. Allen was a big KC Chiefs and Royals fan. In addition, he enjoyed attending the NJCAA Basketball tournaments, HCC Dragons football, or any local school sports event. Allen had a big heart, and found joy in genuinely helping anyone in need, including animals.
On February 14, 1988, he married Jean Dockery-Hoffman, in Hutchinson. She survives.
Other survivors include: children, Mark (Katie) Wedel, Melanie (Derrick Vandenbos) Wedel, Kimberly (Shane) Keyser, and Roy (Hiedi) Hodges; grandchildren, Andrew Keyser, Quinton Fenske, Tyler Hodges, Zachary Keyser, Ian Wedel, and Sarah Hodges; brother, Harold (Cathy) Wedel; sister, Barbara (Frank) Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Cremation has taken place. Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 W. 4th Ave, Hutchinson. Friends may sign his memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association or Cancer Council of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
