Allene Mabel (Wilson) Heeter, age 99, of Rockland, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2025. She had spent her last years residing in Highland Oaks in Clarion and at Mahoning Riverside Manor in Punxsutawney.
She was born in Slippery Rock on May 12, 1926 and just celebrated her 99th birthday.
She was a daughter of the late Bert and Clara (Wimer) Wilson. Allene grew up in Nickleville with her siblings Ruth, Edwin, John, Russell, Ray and Pauline. She was a 1944 graduate of Emlenton High School and also Welch's Business School in Oil City.
Allene was a member of the Nickleville Presbyterian Church.
She was married on April 27, 1946 to William B. Heeter, and he preceded her in death on April 6, 2018.
In her earlier years, she worked with Bill on their dairy farm in Rockland, and then at Deer Meadow Campground in Cook Forest. They enjoyed spending the winter months in Lakeland, Florida, following their retirement.
Allene enjoyed keeping their home immaculately clean, and helping to maintain their beautiful yard. She also enjoyed traveling with her family, playing Dominoes, hosting many family dinners and picnics, and making pies together with her husband. She was immensely proud of her entire family!
She is survived by her five children: Sandra (Ronald) Shaffer, Cheryl (Kenneth) Buchanan, William R. (Karen) Heeter, Bonnie (James) Sottiaux, and Jeffrey (Nancy) Heeter; twelve grandchildren: Jonathan (Jennifer) Shaffer, Jason (Angela) Shaffer, Jamie White, Christopher (Crystal) Buchanan, Chad Buchanan (Elvira Perez), Tyler Buchanan, William R. (Lauren) Heeter, Michelle Sottiaux and partner Jeffrey Ellison, Sara (Derek) Black, Holly Sottiaux and husband Nathan Billings, Jared (Jennifer) Heeter, and Emily (Bradon) Webb; 24 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Barbara Wilson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, her devoted husband Bill, grandson Jonathan, and son-in-law Ronald.
The family will welcome friends and relatives at visitation at Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca on Thursday (June 5) from 4 - 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home Friday (June 6) at 11 a.m. with Rev. Bruce Judy, officiating. A committal service and entombment will immediately follow in the mausoleum at Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
