Alonso “John” F. Miguel, Jr., a beloved barber in Attleboro passed away peacefully on June 30th with over 50 years of dedicated service.
He was the husband of Luzia Maria (Silveira) Miguel.
Born in Faial, Azores, he was the son of the late Alonso Sr., and Maria (Felipe) Miguel.
Despite Alonso’s stubbornness, he possessed an immense strength and warmth that made a profound impact on the lives of his customers, family and friends. Outside of his professional life, Alonso loved to travel to Portugal, fish and tell great stories. He was the kind of company you never forgot and was known for his big heart, generous spirit and quick sarcasm.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, dog Faial and the countless lives he touched through his work.
Besides his beloved wife Luzia of 46 years, he is survived by his children; Joyce Miguel of Florida, Maria DeAraujo and husband Jerry of New Bedford, Alonso Miguel and wife Ellen of Florida, Lee Miguel and wife Elizett of Fairhaven, brothers; John Miguel and wife Mary Lou of Norton, David Miguel of Swansea, Maria Golia of Taunton and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Jason Miguel and brother of the late Terry Hochman.
Alonso’s funeral with visitation will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at 9:00am with a funeral service to begin at 11:00am in the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton.
Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Taunton.
