On August 5, 1950, the world was blessed with Alonzo Estelle Jr., born and raised in Dallas, TX, from the union of Alonzo Estelle and Gladys Mae Compton. Alonzo was preceded in death by both of his parents.
He had five sisters; two preceded him in death: Martha Fisher and Mary Curl. His three living sisters are Cynthia Toney, Gladys Wofford, and Vivian Dixon.
Alonzo received his education from the Dallas Independent School District and graduated from J.N. Erwin High School in 1969.
Alonzo was very adventurous and outgoing. He enjoyed interacting with others in various social settings. He craved excitement and loved activities that challenged him both physically and mentally.
After high school, Alonzo worked several manual jobs and had no desire to attend college. He was later hired by a company called Rock Tenn, which provided on-the-job training. He became a leadman and worked there for 20-plus years before retiring.
Alonzo later met and married Alvin Estelle. From that union, one son was born: Alonzo Estelle III.
Alonzo also had three other children: Cleveland Jones and Patrice Royal, both of whom have children, making Alonzo a proud granddaddy and great-granddaddy.
Alonzo loved life and dressed fashionably-he was known as a male fashionista. He had shoes and hats to match all his outfits and always expressed his personal style through his clothing and accessories. He loved sports, especially basketball, football, and tennis.
Alonzo cherished time with family and friends. His favorite pastime was eating-he loved to eat!
Alonzo's memory will be forever cherished by his wife, Alvin Estelle; his son, Alonzo Estelle III; his daughter, Patrice Royal; and his son, Cleveland Jones. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews: John Toney, Leland Toney, Dan Toney, Jermaine Toney, Edris Huff, Carmen Mitchell, Cornelius Estelle, Burnetta Lenderink, Burnett Wolford Jr., Tony Fisher, Felicia Fisher, and many several other nieces and nephews.
He also leaves behind cousins Robbin Compton, Sonny Compton, Dale Compton, Jackie Ashley; his three sisters-Cynthia, Gladys, and Vivian-and a host of friends, grandbabies, and great-grand babies.
