She is survived by her children, Emily B. Dill (Husband Douglas Dill), John T Banks III (Wife Diane); She had four grandchildren Aimee Kanagy, Jessica Micheletti, Cody Banks, and Jaime Hall all from Ohio; She had 10 great grand Children.
Alva Graduated from Averett College in Danville, VA and Ferrum College in Ferrum, VA where she met her first husband John. She taught 2nd grade and enjoyed her students. Her life was full of wonderful friends that she missed when moving to Williamsburg. She was an avid antique doll collector and took such pride in costuming her dolls. All her stitches were sewn by hand - no machine stitches allowed. She was a long-time member of the Norfolk Doll Club. She was a great cook thanks to her mother; Doug will miss her lemon chess pie. Cody always saw her happy and in a great mood and gave the best hugs ever. Her kindness was seen and felt by all who knew her. She is very fondly remembered and sadly missed.
