BASILE-It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Alvin Douget announces his passing on Friday, January 3, 2025, at the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home in Jennings with loving family by his side at the age of 94. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Basile. Entombment will follow in the St. Augustine Mausoleum with Father Keenan Brown, officiating.
Alvin Douget, born on September 2, 1930, to Adeol and Avelia Perron Douget in the small town of Basile, Louisiana, lived a life marked by pride, service, and love. A dedicated veteran of the United States Army, Alvin found a sense of camaraderie and belonging as a member of the Basile American Legion, a testament to his commitment to his country.
Throughout his life, Alvin cherished the simple pleasures — from tending to his beloved cows to sharing meaningful moments with friends. However, nothing brought him more joy than the time he spent with his grandsons. They were his pride and joy, and he delighted in watching them grow and thrive.
With a notable career spanning over 25 years at CXS Texas, Alvin embodied resilience and hard work. Even in his later years at the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home, he was a beloved figure, known for his warm spirit and genuine kindness.
He will be missed and loved dearly by all who knew him, especially his grandsons, Garrett Douget and wife, Jamie of Holden, Tyler Douget and wife, Courtney of Carencro, and Spencer Douget and wife, Crystal of Lake Charles; daughter in law, Marcia Hester Douget of Basile; the joys of his life his great grandchildren, Luke Douget, Olivia Douget, Ella Douget, Penelope Douget, Maddox Douget, Megan Breithaupt, Kacey Breithaupt and Alexandra Douget and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy LaFleur Douget; his son, Robert F. “Bob” Douget; his parents; and brother, Mervin Douget.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Basile on Tuesday, January 7th from 9:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be prayed at 12:30 pm by the Catholic Daughters.
