Amy Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at Rivermonte on Jan. 3, 2026.
Amy Sue Smith (Hughes), 47, of Springfield, Missouri entered the joy of eternal life with Christ on December 31, 2025 at Mercy Hospital.

Amy was born on October 2, 1978, in Springfield, Missouri, to Kenneth Hughes and Pauline Hughes (Johnson). She lived a life marked by deep challenges and long battles, yet she was a fighter in every sense of the word. Through everything she endured, Amy loved fiercely and devoted herself to being a mother.

She was the proud mother of four children and poured her heart into them with unwavering love. Amy was especially cherished by her father, who remained faithfully by her side and never left her during her final days.

Amy had a deep love for animals, especially horses and dogs, and enjoyed her time with 4-H, animal care, music, dancing and poetry writing throughout her life.

She is survived by her husband Jim Smith; three precious living children, Dalton Hughes 26, Shelby Smith 22, Chevy Smith 21; her father, Kenny E. Hughes and stepmother Sheri Hughes; her siblings, Kenny Lee Hughes 51, and sister Justine Hughes 38; and many extended family members, including aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Lee Heuchele; her mother, Pauline Johnson; and other loved family members.

A Memorial Gathering Event of family and friends will take place Spring of 2026.

Amy's life mattered. Her presence mattered. While her passing leaves an immeasurable void, her love and legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

"For He will wipe every tear from their eyes."
-Revelation 21:4
