Andrew Funk Obituary

Andrew Myer Funk passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025, in Virginia Beach at the age of 84. Born on October 1, 1940, to Amos Funk and Esta (Myer) Funk, Andrew lived a life of steady resilience,
A proud Pennsylvanian by birth, Andy had a career as an insurance agent and relocated to Virginia Beach where he would call home for over fifty years.
In the family, Andy was known as the best story teller leaving everyone with a good laugh and interesting conversations that would follow. His other love was being in his backyard with all his plants. He had an uncanny way with flowers-especially his beloved azaleas-and the garden was his sanctuary.
When his mother's health declined, Andy stepped in without hesitation. He became the family's holiday anchor, taking over the cooking for Thanksgiving and Christmas. His motivation was always his family but especially his amazing Mother, Esta.
Andy is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Survivors include his daughter, Alecia Jesse, her husband, Blair Jesse, his grandson, Bryce, Jesse, and three sisters; Grace Wardrop, Anna Mae Bennett and June Bianchi and husband George Bianchi.
A private remembrance will be held by the family. In honor of Andrew, plant a flower, cook a holiday meal, and don't forget to water the azaleas.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Altmeyer Funeral Home - Southside Chapel. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Andrew, please visit our floral store.
