Andrew King Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son and brother, Andy, who went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 14, 2025.
Andy found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. He had a special place in his heart for beagles, especially his own dogs, Brandi and Bailey, often sharing stories and laughter about his furry companions. Their playful spirit matched his own, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Music was another great love of Andy's life. Whether listening to his favorite songs, playing the saxophone, or singing in the St. Paul's Methodist Church choir, he found comfort and joy in melodies. Music brought him peace, and he delighted in sharing it with others.
Andy fought the dark forces of mental illness his entire adulthood, so we remember the beautiful and quirky sides of him that made Andy so unique.
Nobody could laugh like Andy. His mother called him a "hyena." Once he got started, it was hard for him to stop the guffaws that shook his whole body as he laughed and laughed with a loud booming voice.
He also had a penchant for corny jokes. While at Geisinger Hospital awaiting surgery after breaking his neck when he fell down a flight of stairs, he joked with the nurses, "I've heard of a pain in the neck, but this is ridiculous!" proceeding to crack up at his own joke.
A lifelong resident of State College, he was the first Downtown Goodwill Ambassador, guiding visitors by sharing his wealth of knowledge pertaining to his hometown. Since Christmas was his favorite time of year, he played Santa downtown and at the Nittany Mall and enjoyed listening to children tell him their Christmas wishes.
Although Andy was never able to achieve his dream of following in the footsteps of his Uncle Arden by serving his country as a career military man, anytime he met someone who he thought had been in the military, he immediately saluted and thanked them for their service with a sincere and grateful heart.
Andy was born on July 3, 1966, in Bellefonte, PA, the son of Victor King (who preceded him in death in 1998) and Roberta King of Penna Furnace, PA. He is survived by his sister Karen King and her husband, Robert Pfahl, of State College, PA and his sister Elisabeth Pfahl of Bellefonte, PA. His other brother-in-law, P. Blair Pfahl, Jr, preceded him death in 2021. (His sisters married brothers and he always wished that they had a sister for him to marry.)
A celebration of Andy's life will be held on Sunday November 30, 2025, at 3pm at the State College Alliance Church, 1221 W. Whitehall Rd. State College, PA 16801. All who knew and loved him are welcome to come and share their memories.
