Andrew "Andy" Nelson, 21, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, August 18, 2025. He was born on March 22, 2004, to loving parents Steve and Lori, and big brother Sammy.
Andrew was full of life and lived every day to the fullest. Everything he did, he did one hundred percent. He was afraid of nothing and was a fierce protector of the people he loved.
Andy was the best brother and loved Sammy endlessly. He was an amazing son who always kept his parents laughing. He was a perfect grandson.
Andrew loved people and loved making people laugh and smile with his witty sense of humor. He loved to antagonize his cat, Dutch. Andrew found much joy in the time he spent with his girlfriend, Laura. He was a really good friend and cousin who loved a good game of basketball, camping, hiking, fishing, working-out, cooking good food, and simply hanging out.
Andy is survived by his parents, Steve and Lori, and his brother, Sammy; his Gram and Pap, Terri and David Shoffner; his aunts and uncles, Aimee and Ritchie Dabbs, Rese and Brian Gardner, David and Tammy Nelson, Randy and Gwen Nelson, Larry and Sherry Nelson, and Mike and Sarah Nelson; his cousins, Jake, Will, Hayden, Nolan, Shelby, Kerry, Brandon, Christopher, Greg, and Ricky; many other special family members, and numerous friends that he called family.
Andrew is preceded in death by his Pawpaw and Mawmaw, Maynard and Nancy Nelson, and Grandpa, Edgar Welborn.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, with the visitation beginning at 11:00 am and the service to follow at 12:30 pm, at Bethel Methodist Church of Oak Ridge at 8424 Haw River Road, Oak Ridge, NC.
