Andrew L. Oltmanns, 96, longtime resident of Englewood Cliffs, NJ, peacefully passed away on July 19, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his beloved wife JoAnn of 49 years, his sons: Andrew and his wife Nicole, Joseph and his wife Josette, and John Paul. He was a loving, proud and caring grandfather (Opa) to Nate, Luke, Cody and Celeste.
Andrew was born and raised in Union City, NJ, and moved to Cliffside Park, NJ with his family until he was married. He graduated from Cliffside Park H.S. and, shortly after, enlisted in the United States Navy. After being honorably discharged as a WWII veteran, he graduated from Seton Hall University. He then began his career at Citibank for 40 years until he retired. During his early years working at Citibank, he attended Columbia University part-time for his MBA - one of the major accomplishments that he was most proud of. His most prized possession was his Columbia school ring which he wore proudly for the remainder of his life.
He was a very devoted and loving husband and father and enjoyed spending time coaching baseball, playing basketball and vacationing with his family. Another one of his favorite pastimes was taking care of his home - you could often find him tending to his lawn, climbing a 20-foot ladder to paint, or washing his cars in the middle of a rainstorm. His Catholic faith was an important part of his life. He enjoyed attending Mass regularly, served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years and helping with other assignments at his parish, Holy Trinity Church.
He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and community who will cherish his memory, carry his legacy with them throughout their lives and look back lovingly on the gift of having him for so many years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital https://www.stjude.org
