Andrew L. VanDerslice Jr 1940-2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Andrew L. VanDerslice Jr., beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He passed away peacefully on May 3rd, surrounded by his family at the age of 84. If you knew Andy, you knew his love of the weather, so it's fitting that he passed away during the winds of a incoming thunderstorm.
Born in Irvington, N.J., then with most of his childhood living in Norristown, Pa. Andy attended Penn State University for his undergraduate and then received his law degree from Villanova Law School. His parents found a summer paradise in Seaside Park, NJ, which remains a fond and special place for his family. Andy "Butch "was a life guard in Seaside Park NJ and met his wife of 62 years, Judith, on the beach. Andy started his career at Provident Mutual Life Insurance and became head of the Advanced Underwriting Department, he later became Manager of the New York office, building it to one of the largest agencies in the country, as well as forming his own financial advisory company. He retired after 45 years. To keep busy and receive free golf for family and friends, he really enjoyed his time as a Starter at Desert Willow and Shadow Ridge golf courses in Palm Desert. Andy and Judy lived in a number of locations, meeting life long friends along the way, starting out Cherry Hill, NJ, Wilton and Greenwich CT, Falmouth, Ma and with years of retirement in the Palm Desert, CA area before moving back East to be closer to his children and grandchildren. Some of his fondest memories were made while boating, golfing, tennis and volleyball with family and his many friends. From season tickets to the Philadelphia Eagles for 30 years, to opening days with the NY Yankees, he always remained a sports enthusiast. His strong presence in many lives and generosity made him easy to love.
Andy is survived by his loving wife, Judith; his children, Linda Amendt (John) and Andrew L. VanDerslice III (Christine); his three grandchildren James, his wife India, Thomas and Anna and his brother John VanDerslice (Linda) and loving nephews Christian (Eileen) and Kurt (Beth).
A private Memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org or a charity of your choice.
