Angela Alvarado Fonseca Martinez, age 80, of Roosevelt, passed away December 31, 2024, at the Uintah Basin Medical Center.
She was born August 24, 1944, in Coruna, Mexico, to Primitivo Alvarado and Maria Loretta Fonseca. She married Edward Martinez, and later divorced. She married Wakean Torch Yount on January 28, 2004, in Denver, Colorado.
Angela worked as a CNA at various long term care facilities for several years. She loved her patients and was very dedicated to them. She was a hardworker and had a big heart. She was always smiling regardless of her personal feelings or pain, and was always willing to give whatever she had – often before taking care of her own needs. She spoke her mind, and was very sweet, appreciative and welcoming. Her earthly calling was to take care of others, especially her husband in his many times of sickness and surgeries. She loved to dance, listen to music, attend the Pow Wow and Sundances with Wakean, and go to church – Catholic Church first and then the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed cooking, her specialty being enchiladas, menudo, and fresh made tortillas.
Angela is survived by her husband, Wakean, of Roosevelt; her children, Loretta Ann Martinez (Brandon Lee), Colorado; Elizabeth “Lisa” Martinez, (Rocky Perez), Ft. Collins, Colorado; Richard J Martinez, Nevada; granddaughter, Marissa Martinez; a step-son, Peter Padilla Yount; 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son Edward Martinez, an infant son, Julio Martinez; granddaughter, Kiara Martinez; her parents and two siblings.
