Anita Carson

Nita, "Neet Neet", "Nita Pita" as so many of us would affectionately call her, flew away like the angel she has become on March 7, 2024. Nita was born March 12, 1964, in Asheville, North Carolina to the late Thomas Odell Carson, Sr. and Alice Virginia Jamerson.
In addition to her parents, Nita was preceded in death by grandmother, Lillie Pearl Carson; uncles, Dennis Carson, Sherman, Charles, and Paul Sherman. Nita was also preceded in death by Charles Pickens, the father of their three daughters, April, Kimya and Shanice.
Nita was a lifelong resident of Asheville and attended Buncombe County schools. She was employed by the Greens of Weaverville where she brought joy to and enjoyed her residents. Nita enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Neet Neet was the life of every party!
Anita's memories include but never forgotten; daughter, April Michelle Pickens, missing since December 26, 2011.
Surviving to cherish Anita's joyful memories are children, Kimya LaPearl Denise Pickens, Shanice Taniel Pickens and Avante Thomas Carson; siblings, Thomas Odell Carson, Jr., Kelly Eugene Medley (Theresa), Reginald Andre Mills (Alicia), Trina Denise Logan (Alfred), Kevin Mills, Alounda Towanna Carson, Christopher Jermaine Jamerson; stepfather, Charles "Lanky" Ailes; grandchildren, Myasia Pickens, Davon Smith, LaTrina Pickens, Damon Smith, Kristian Pickens, Kamiyah Ray, Nevaeh Pickens, Silas Pickens, Sereniti Wilson, Deyla Carson; great-grandchildren, Noah Pickens, Legend Pickens, Kaiden Smith; nieces and nephews, Coleman Clark, Jr., Reginald Andre Mills, Jr., Antonio Carson, Blake Tionne Mills, Tye-Quan Finley, Ra-Sheym Carson, Alexis Medley, Kelly Medley, II, LaShaiya Smith, Danielle Medley and Khorin Carson; great-nieces and great-nephews, Tristan Frisbee, Antonio Carson, Jr., Co'Marion Frisbee, Kaiden Carson, Anaya Penland, Ayaha Penland, Amani Carson, Andreus Roberts, Haylo Frisbee, Xariyana McElroy, Ryder Carson, Amarii Carson, Ahzaiz Carson, Emery Finley, Kehlani Carson, Royale Mills, Kannon Mills, Easton Mills and Monroe Mills; special daughters and son, Helena Gray, Charlene Pea, Angela Destiny, and Charles "Chuck" Thompson; special friends include, Shelia Simpson, Elizabeth Gail Connor, Pam Muckelvene, Ruth Smith, Shirley Austin, Veronica Smith, Kim Briscoe, Travis Hicks and David Daugherty.

Funeral service will be 12:00pm Thursday, March 14, 2024 in the chapel of Ray Funeral & Cremation Service. Public visitation will be one hour prior to the service, also in the chapel. The service will be live streamed here on the website.
