Ann Margaret Boone, SCN, 84, was born April 16, 1941, in Lebanon Junction, Ky., to John Cripps Boone and Mary Amy (Mattingly) Boone. She died July 14, 2025, in Louisville, Ky. She was a Sister of Charity of Nazareth for 62 years.
Sister Ann Margaret's first ministry was in education. She taught second grade for five years at St. Matthias School in Louisville. She also taught first grade for several years at St. Frances of Rome in Louisville.
From 1973-1979, she lived in Memphis, Tenn. where she served as Provincial Assistant for the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth and as a staff member at the Memphis Catholic School Office. She later served as Pastoral Minister at Cumberland Catholic Parish in Burkesville, Ky.
Sister Ann Margaret earned her bachelor's degree in education from Nazareth College. She also earned a master's degree in education from Xavier University and a master's in religious education from the University of St. Thomas.
For over 20 years, Sister Ann Margaret was the Director of Nazareth Villages, Inc., an apartment facility for persons who are 62 years old or older, or for individuals with disabilities. Nazareth Villages is a ministry of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth and is located in Nazareth, Ky.
Sister Ann Margaret served her SCN Community in many ways, including as a volunteer at the Nazareth Retreat Center, as Motherhouse Coordinator, and in Vocations as Director of Temporary Professed.
As a volunteer, she served at local nursing homes, often visiting former residents of Nazareth Villages, and at St. Vincent De Paul Society Mission Store and Food Pantry.
She is survived by her siblings, Peggy Raley, Helen Sturgeon, Cecilia Snellen, Bernard Boone, Willetta Bunch, Keith Boone, Michael Boone, and Wayne Boone, by her extended family, and by her SCN Community.
Sister Ann Margaret's arrangements are as follows: Her Wake service was held on Thursday evening at St. Vincent de Paul Church at Nazareth. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2025 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, followed by burial in Nazareth Cemetery. The services will be streamed at Nazareth.org/live.
Funeral Arrangements are being handled by Ratterman Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road in Louisville.
