Ann Dunne Obituary

Ann Louise Dunne, also known as "Weezie" and "Big AL," was born in May 1936 in Shamokin, Pennsylvania. She graduated from the Allentown Hospital School of Nursing in 1958 and received her Registered Nurse degree that summer. Ann Louise was working as an RN at Queen's Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii, when she met and married Navy Lieutenant (jg) Bernie Dunne (who was stationed at Pearl Harbor) in 1961. She worked as an ER nurse and an oral surgery nurse for many years. Ann Louise was also a volunteer nurse at her children's schools and at Hospice of the Chesapeake.
Ann Louise and Bernie lived in Chartwell in Severna Park, Maryland, for many years. Ann Louise played golf and tennis as a member of Chartwell Country Club. When Bernie retired, they moved to a condo in Annapolis.
What she described as her greatest accomplishment was raising two children, Steve and Jennifer. Steve is a graduate of Princeton University, the University of Oxford, and Stanford Law School. Steve and his wife Renee were both Rhodes Scholars. Her daughter Jennifer graduated from Harvard University and received her Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley.
Ann Louise's retirement years were spent at sports events of her two grandsons, Kyle and Kevin. Reading and watching sports were her favorite hobbies. She said her greatest joy was her time spent with her grandsons.
Ann Louise was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Bernard Dunne, and by her mother and stepfather, Agnes and Ray Cohen. She is survived by her brothers, Vaughn Edmunds (and his wife JoAnne) and Ken Edmunds; by her children, Steven Dunne (and his wife Renee Stone) and Jennifer Dunne (and her partner Mathiew McClinton); and by her grandsons, Kyle Dunne and Kevin Dunne.
Any donations in her memory can be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake or to another local hospice organization.
