Ann M. Freeman

February 22, 1949 - August 26, 2025

Ann M. Freeman, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, in Norwich, CT, at the age of 76.

Ann was born on February 22, 1949, in Willimantic, CT to Evelyn (Phaneuf) Maheu Chalifoux and Romeo Maheu. She was raised by her mother and stepfather, Albert "Bart" Chalifoux. Her grandmother, Margaret Phaneuf, also played a large part in her upbringing. Ann married the love of her life, Jeff Freeman, on September 4, 1965. He survives her. This September 4th would have been their 60th wedding anniversary.

In Ann's early married life, she was a homemaker caring for her husband and two children whom she loved deeply. She worked at Lib's in Baltic for many years, and knew practically everyone in town. Later in life, she decided to make her mark on the world by returning to school and earning her Bachelors Degree, majoring in Biology and a minoring in Chemistry. Ann then worked at Pfizer in the biology research lab. Before and after retiring from Pfizer, Ann loved gardening and birds. Her sculpted yard and all of her plants and flowers were her joy. In 2006, Ann and Jeff moved to Haines City, FL and made many life-long friendships. Just recently they relocated to Norwich to be nearer to family.

Ann's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, but her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us.

In addition to her husband, Ann is survived by her daughter, Sheri King, of Norwich, CT and her son Jeff Freeman, Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, of Ledyard, CT. She is also survived by her grandson, Noah Freeman. Ann also had several half brothers and sisters, Ramona Dagenais, Waneta Auger, Marlene Maheu, Michael Maheu, Patricia Waldron, and Steven Maheu. She was predeceased by half siblings Romeo Maheu, Armand Maheu, Wayne Maheu, and Betty Preston.

A funeral Mass will be held at 9:00 am on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at St. Mary's Church, 70 West Main St, Baltic, CT. Burial of the cremains will follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery, Willimantic Rd, Baltic, CT.
